dinner at bukit tinggi

on saturday was my 'grand' uncle's (is that how they call it?) birthday from my dad's side of the family. GU decided to bring us to a chinese restaurant up in Bukit Tinggi, pahang, a place called Yu Kan. its not far from my hometown, Bentong, about another 30 minutes drive i'll reach my grandma's house.

surfs up at bukit tinggi...where i wonder

great weather, little misty towards the evening. very cooling

the restaurant has a pretty nice setting. it is surrounded with fish ponds and i guess they're famous for their fish dishes. great landscaping aswell as the dinning area gives you the "outdoorsy" feel like u're eating in the bush(geographically...you are actually eating in the bush). the cool breeze in the air adds to that effect.

cousin sis preparing the cake

didnt took much photos as it was getting dark. the food was great, really tasty. well mom and dad complained that it was too salty or too sweet, cause they're used to eating healthy. there was 2 types of fish. though my dad side of the family are experts on fish, unfortunately it didnt rub off on me as the only thing i know bout fish is "damn there's a lot of bones in this white meat". one clay pot and the other steamed fish, both were delicious and very much filled with bones(why cant they fillet it...). 2 dishes of pork, 2 dishes of vegetables and a plate of fried taufu...filled me up real nice...

towards the end, theres this blackforest cake. not bad, very chocolate-ty with strawberries... personally took 2 huge slices(DIY-ed). they really overloaded my system then... after cakes we chit chat, besides fish experts, they're also opticians which made them er... experts of optical stuffs... from the pioneer who started the business, my 'grand uncle' to his sons and to my dad... all opticians. except my aunt who works in a bank. the men from my dad's side of the family are and were opticians...untill me and cousin came a long and ruin the heritage, he studied to become a hair stylist, as for me an engineer.
