Densha Otoko(train man)...benoist!!!

few years ago, i saw Densha Otoko(train man) aired on tv. i only manage 2 see the last few episodes. i found that it was a really interesting story and was disappointed to had missed the whole series.

recently, i accomponied a friend to a bookstore, a book caught my eye cause of its white cover(it was the only 1 in white in that shelf). i took it out, looked at the title and had some flashback. "eh...that tv series?". i couldnt resist and bought it. the story was very nice, funny and pretty tense sometimes.

its said to be a true story, of how an otaku saved a group of women from a drunkard on a train. the otaku ended up dating one of the women. these are screeshots from the tv series. the story is began when an anonymous user posted on a 2Channel thread for single men. he posted; he had been sitting next to a young woman on the train when a drunken man entered the car and began bothering the other passengers, most of whom were female. when the drunkard bothered a particular women, he somehow gathered all his courage to stop the drunkard which he never had imagine himself doing. for saving her from the drunkard, the young lady asked for his address, telling him that she wants to show her appreciation. never having done such a thing before, upon reaching home, he shared his experience on the thread and was nick named Densha Otoko(Train Man).

few days later he received a gift from the young lady. it was a pair of Hermes tea-cups. he turned to the 2Channelers for advice. eventually he ended up contacting that young lady which was nick named Lady Hermes. as Densha Otoko never been on a date before, he countlessly posted updates asking his 2Channel buddies for advice. thanks to the 2Channelers advices, he manage to shed his otaku-nesa into something more appropriate, where by he cut his hair, bought new clothes and some contact lenses. they began meeting frequently and after a few months later Densha Otoko finally confesses his love for her. the story spread quickly as 2Channel has an enormous impact on net culture in Japan.

i got my copy of Densha Otoko dvd few months ago and watched it whenever i get some free time. i was very touch with some of the scenes and how Densha Otoko struggled through the experiences. i watched the dvd's on my laptop which made me feel like i was 1 of the 2Channelers...lol...benoist!!!! i even teared at some of the scenes. if you liked the book then you'll love the tv series. instead of seeing annonymous posts and nick names, you can actually see their faces and expretions aswell, which i think was very cool. sry for such a long post, thanks if your reading.

the soundtrack was the nice, from Face 2 fAKE to Sambomaster. great songs.
