Merdeka in Canberra

A couple of weeks ago, there was an event called the Malam Gemilang which was to celebrate Malaysia's 52 years of independence. it was held on a Thursday, and i have a quiz on Friday. the event was held in a beautiful historical building called the Albert Hall. the hall, opened in 1928 by the 8th Prime Minister of Australia, Stanley Bruce. he named the hall after the Royal Albert Hall in London and also because it commemorated the "Consort of the Queen who had proclaimed the Australian Commonwealth"... sourced:wikipedia...

if i recalled it properly, the week began with a rush to complete my assignment which was due on friday.. and i had a quiz on friday O.o''it was a an short essay about system designs... and i remembered now that i also had to do some pre-work for a laboratory session on wednesday.

it was a totally maxed out week. but it was worth it in the end. on the night of malam gemilang, everyone was dressing up for the event. down at the lobby... men was looking sharp, and the ladies was looking reAL FIne... so anyway there was 8 of us and we caught a cab to Albert Hall. we called a cab, and thank goodness they had a limo-type cab which could fit up to 9 people.

what better way to celebrate malaysia's independence day by following the tradition of being "fashionably late". we're suppose to leave and be there by 7pm... but you know la... we reached bout 8pm like that. though we were late... the hall was still empty! in fact we were early to tell the truth. after waiting bout FOREVER, the event finally began and it was awesome. the food was great, the perfomance was jaw dropping and the people was beautiful. the organizers had really outdone themselves *thumbs-up*. there was lucky draws... prizes ranged from 2-way bus tickets to a logitech 5-1 speaker set... and the grand prize was an ipod touch and a x-box 360... OMG WTF!? i got nothing... sigh

towards the end, people began calling cabs to get their bums home. it made it difficult to get through with the cab companies... the cabs kept on coming, non stop. other options were... walking(brrr...), take a bus(oops last bus was about an hour ago =.=) after bout half an hour later... i manage to connect through and booked a cab home... phew, we almost resorted to walking home... luckily we didnt... not in that weather... and not in those shoes...
