yesterday, mechanical eng. students organize a trip to PWTC for the Machine Tool Show. sounds pretty boring...but it beats sitting for a ceramah back at college. driving to PWTC was a no no cause parking was limited and traffic jams are sort of a tradition.

the day started out great as there was no rain. sun is high and the sky is blue. when i reached college, i went for breakfast at my usual kopitiam. suddenly i realised, "whoa the place was packed with people, where did they come from?". later i found out, ohh...ftZ no electricity. no wonder, no electric so kenot 'po chap'(tuition). around 12, we move for kelana jaya. from there we head to masjid jamek, switched and head to PWTC.



some of the first things we noticed was this little replica of apollo 13. we thought it was like house deco or something but turns out its used to sharpen drill bids...hmm? next to the right, its used to heat things up for forging or brazing, and it works pretty fast. i'd say it could heat a piece of metal red hot faster than you can tie your shoe laces.

then there was this bending machines. pretty cool, doing something like a transformers thingy. above, its used for threading holes and screws. then there was a booth selling materials. copper, aluminium, gold, platinum...u name it. the second hall was a bit boring cause most of it you would have seen in hall one. just that its slightly bigger...slightly.

the final hall, hall 3 was definitely something else. the machines there was XXXXXL size. no kidding some machine was wider than a gol post. a friend of mine posed behind a machine(dunno what it is) and posed as a gol keeper. there were also this bunch of taiwanese dudes. they were handling automated welding machines. we talk to them but they couldnt care less bout what you ask. all they do is weld...replace metal...weld...repeatedly. then the exhibitor came and say "dont bother them" cause they were rushing a dateline or something O.o"' so since they cant bring their work home, might aswell do it there i suppose.

hall 3 had a surprised install for all of us. as we entred, we were stunned, whoa they got models here...no one was taking their pics though not like in the auto shows i went to(neither did i, my gut instinct just scream "bad idea!"). i was confused...why would they bring hot chicks to a show were the visitors are 90% a bunch of old fart engineers? who knows... they are way better off at an auto show. nobodies complaining though, hey if it aint broken dont fix it.

then there was this giant laser cutter, by mitsubishi. the cut pieces were handed out to visitors as souvenirs...(er...yea, thanks for the piece of metal).

around 4.30 we decide to cabut to avoid getting stuck in the jam. there was no parking in kelana jaya so i had to park in the housing area behind kelana jaya. the walk to my car was like experiencing 'jurassic park'.
